New £73m College Well On Track

The new Further Education College being developed by Strategic Sites on behalf of Kirklees College is on schedule to be completed in time for its planned opening in September 2012.

Residents  in Huddersfield have reacted enthusiastically to the sight of two giant cranes appearing on the town's skyline.  This is a visible signal that the Waterfront Quarter development is now well under-way.

The cranes form part of the construction of a new FE College for Kirklees College, which forms phase one of the Waterfront Quarter scheme.

Strategic Sites' Project Director Paul Simmonds says, "The college works are progressing really well and are on schedule for the buildings to open to students at the start of the 2012/13 academic year, exactly in line with our agreement with Kirklees College."

Strategic Sites has also been apppointed to manage the installation of infrastructure and other works to provide serviced sites during 2011.  Potential office, hotel, restaurant and other occupiers are invited to register their interest in the project with Strategic Sites.
